YWAM North Cascades is found in Lynden, WA. A beautiful little Dutch town. Filled of friendly faces, and always a ‘hello’ or wave when out in the town.
It Feels Like Home
A few things I didn’t expect about YWAM North Cascades was how friendly the welcome was. You quickly feel at home with the staff. A welcome dinner was presented to us our first night there, we were thrown into meeting all of our DTS students and you got to know a little about them all by playing fun ice breaker games. Our staff then shared their testimonies, how they came to know Christ and why they chose to do a DTS. Within a few hours they made you feel a little more apart of their family.
Friendships
Meeting the students was also an experience that you expect to be one way and turns out to be another. I didn’t expect that 5 days in I would already have made relationships with so many girls. You start to relate with one another when telling your story, sharing life experiences, wisdom and all having the same common goal; to share the Gospel to the unreached. A certain sense of understanding is made and you connect so well to people of all different nationality. All weekend of orientation we had activities, we were split into different groups each time and were able to get to know everyone.
Amazing Area
Lastly the third thing I didn’t expect about YWAM North Cascades was how beautiful the town is! Lynden WA is a population of about 14,000 people. The downtown street, Front Street, is filled with the cutest shops. A dutch bakery, A dutch restaurant and lots of antique shops. My favorite place to eat is at Avenue Bread, a new restaurant that opened up. It has sandwiches, soup, burgers and yummy pastries. A great place for after church lunch, or in the mornings for a delicious breakfast.
